2025 World Series of Poker Commences
The 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP) has officially commenced at Paris Las Vegas and Horseshoe Las Vegas, marking the largest WSOP series in history with a record-breaking 100 bracelet events scheduled from May 27 to July 16, 2025.
The series spans approximately seven weeks, with the Main Event kicking off on July 2. Four starting flights will run through July 5, and the final table will be played across July 15–16. Buy-ins for the events range from $300 to $25,000, offering a diverse range of opportunities for poker enthusiasts.
New and unique formats have been introduced, including the Battle of the Ages, a tournament that splits players by age, and the T.O.R.S.E. event, which replaces Limit Hold'em with 2-7 Triple Draw. The series also features fewer freezeout events than prior years but adds six new types of events.
The WSOP+ app, mandatory for all live event participants in 2025, enables online registration, access to real-time updates, virtual queueing, and tournament information. Players must create a WSOP+ account before competing, with first-time online registrants required to complete in-person verification at the registration area. Registration is possible both through the app and in person at the Champagne Ballroom registration area.
The Mystery Millions event, a highlight of the WSOP, did not provide specific details in the sources reviewed. Official details may be released closer to or during the series. However, it is known that the event has a top mystery bounty prize of $1M.
The first event of this year's WSOP series, the Mystery Millions, has already seen 70 players from the 1,329 entrants return for Day 2. The PokerOrg Fantasy Freeroll, an opportunity to win a $10K main event seat or package, is ongoing, with entry closing on May 29. Players can also create a team of poker superstars and follow their progress in the PokerOrg Fantasy Freeroll.
Despite the lack of poker legends in the $500 Industry Employees NLH so far, the 2025 WSOP is off to an exciting start, promising a thrilling seven weeks of poker action in Las Vegas.
