"A fatal accident occurred on the BAB 2 highway near FW Hannover, resulting in one fatality and three severely injured individuals."

A severe traffic accident occurred on the A2 motorway near Hannover-Lahe at 17:29 on Saturday evening. The incident involved a VW Golf and a parked truck, with the VW Golf being pushed under the trailer of the truck due to the impact.

The accident occurred at the Varrelheide rest area (North). As a result of the accident, one fatality occurred, with the driver of the truck remaining uninjured. Four people were in the VW Golf at the time of the accident, three of whom were seriously injured.

The traffic accident investigation unit of the police has initiated an investigation into the cause of the accident. The rescue operation to free the trapped passengers was complex and required lifting the trailer of the truck and pulling the wreckage out using a winch. Two accident victims had to be freed from their wrecked vehicle in a complex rescue operation.

A large contingent of rescue services, including a fire engine, the Misburg volunteer fire department, rescue helicopter Christoph 4, and special vehicles for heavy rescue, were dispatched to the scene. There were reports that the car was about to catch fire, but the fire department and rescue services were able to prevent any such incident.
