Abbey Road Studios partners with corto.alto: "Experiencing Polestar - it's incredibly refreshing"
In a groundbreaking collaboration, Polestar has launched Abbey Road Studios Mode, a new in-car listening experience, in its latest electric vehicle, the Polestar 3. This innovative mode aims to reimagine how music is experienced, not just heard.
The launch event took place in Studio Two of the legendary Abbey Road Studios, where Grammy-nominated musician Jon Hopkins performed as part of the celebration. Hopkins, known for his innovative approach to electronic music, expressed admiration for the new mode, saying, "Abbey Road Studios Mode is a game-changer for in-car audio."
Two British musicians are at the forefront of this exciting venture. Liam Shortall, a Mercury Prize nominee and winner at the Jazz FM Awards, is redefining British jazz. Shortall, proficient on trombone, trumpet, guitar, and piano, is working on reinterpreting two of his hit songs using Abbey Road Studios Mode presets. He describes Abbey Road Studios as a "Mecca of British music."
Shortall finds the car test crucial for making decisions about his music. The first song being reinterpreted is "Energised", which is being matched with the "Slope" preset due to its uptempo, festival-ready nature. The second song being reinterpreted is "Latency", a slower, more introspective piece that allows for exploration of dynamic range and spatial feel.
Mirek, a staff member at Abbey Road Studios, emphasizes the authenticity of checking mixes in cars outside of Abbey Road. The system includes four distinct presets: Energised, Open, Intimate, and Expansive. Abbey Road Studios Mode transforms the Polestar 3's cabin into a mobile sound studio with 25 strategically placed Bowers & Wilkins speakers.
The Polestar 3 also features the Polestar portraits, showcasing the commitment to speed, performance, design, purpose, and balance between performance, well-being, and creativity. The portraits feature professional cyclist Demi Vollering and American basketball player Kevin Love.
Shortall finds it inspiring to record his music at Abbey Road Studios, with its rich history, talented staff, and high-quality instruments. Abbey Road Studios added a new chapter to its story, focusing on jazz, improvisation, and creativity. Abbey Road Studios Mode is available exclusively on Bowers & Wilkins speakers in Polestar 3.
