Abu Dhabi modifies Darb toll gate schedules, eliminates daily and monthly limitations as of September 1.
In a significant move, the Integrated Transport Centre of Abu Dhabi has announced revised Darb toll timings and limits, effective from Monday, September 1. The decision to revise the Darb toll times and limits was made by the relevant Abu Dhabi authorities, although the exact details of who made the decision and when the new rules will take effect are yet to be specified.
The changes aim to enhance traffic flow and reduce congestion on main roads during peak hours. The revised toll changes do not apply to Sundays and official public holidays, where tariffs will continue to be free of charge.
For those looking to register on the Darb system, the nine-step process outlined in the article "Abu Dhabi toll gates: 9 steps to register on Darb system" still applies.
Under the revised system, the chargeable hours in the morning will remain the same. However, the evening tariff schedule, from Monday to Saturday, will change from 5pm-7pm to 3pm-7pm.
The new toll charges for Darb in Abu Dhabi will be Dh4 each time a vehicle passes through the gate, uncapped. This is a significant increase from the current maximum daily charge of Dh16 per private vehicle, or Dh200 on a monthly basis for the first vehicle, Dh150 for a second vehicle, and Dh100 for a third or any additional vehicle.
Darb, managing eight toll gates in Abu Dhabi, is situated on the main bridges entering and exiting the city. It is worth noting that exemption policies will continue for eligible groups, including People of Determination, low-income families, senior citizens, and retirees.
