Accident on Baku's 1st Motorway leads to injuries and extensive property damage; witnesses needed for investigation.
On the morning of January 1, 2025, a traffic accident occurred on the A1 motorway in Bakum, resulting in seven minor injuries. The accident involved a van driven by a 26-year-old woman from Sweden and a dark SUV.
At approximately 7:30 AM, the two vehicles collided, causing the SUV to hit the middle guardrail and come to a stop. The van spun and came to a halt diagonally across the road on the side and right lanes. The A1 motorway in the direction of Hamburg was closed until 09:00 AM due to the accident.
Three children aged 5 to 8, two adult passengers aged 27 and 36, and the woman herself sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospitals by ambulance. Fortunately, the 31-year-old woman driving the SUV did not sustain any injuries.
Initial investigations revealed that a 35-year-old man from Cloppenburg, who was found to be under the influence of alcohol, was at the scene. However, no available information was found in the search results identifying the 31-year-old woman responsible for the accident, nor any mention of charges related to endangering traffic or leaving the accident scene.
Investigations against the 31-year-old woman are ongoing for suspected endangerment of traffic and leaving the scene of an accident. A blood sample was taken from her, and her driver's license was confiscated.
Later, the 31-year-old woman was found at her home, also under the influence of alcohol, and admitted to driving the SUV. The two vehicles involved in the accident were towed away due to being no longer roadworthy.
The highway police in Ahlhorn are seeking witnesses to the accident. Anyone with information about the course of the accident and the reported flight of a woman from the scene is asked to contact the highway police at 04435/9316-115.
The total damage caused by the accident is estimated to be approximately €24,000. The original content of this article was transmitted via news aktuell from the Police Inspectorate Delmenhorst/Oldenburg-Land/Wesermarsch.
