Accident on the road: A truck driver has been struck by a car, resulting in the man's tragic demise.
Yesterday afternoon, a tragic traffic accident occurred in the heart of Prenzlauer Berg. At approximately 14:50, a 59-year-old man was run over by a heavy goods vehicle at the intersection of Danziger Straße and Kniprodestraße.
The man was directing a 57-year-old truck driver at the time of the accident. Regrettably, the truck driver did not apply the brakes before hitting the man, resulting in his fatal injury. Despite immediate CPR efforts, the man died at the scene.
The truck driver is cooperating with the ongoing investigation, which is being handled by a specialized traffic crimes unit from Police Directorate 1 (North). The police are also examining surveillance footage from the area for additional evidence.
The identity of the truck driver involved in the accident has not been disclosed to the public. The 59-year-old man, who was also a victim in this incident, has not been publicly identified either, out of respect for his family and friends during this difficult time.
The Traffic Criminal Investigation Department 3 of Police Directorate 1 is responsible for the investigation of this unfortunate event. The investigation is still ongoing, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased during this difficult time. We urge all road users to exercise caution and follow traffic rules to prevent such tragedies from occurring.
