Accident Report: Additional Details Regarding Incident B 249 - Grave Road Mishap Involving a Vehicle
On December 26th, a tragic traffic accident occurred on the federal road 249, as reported by the Unstrut-Hainich Police Inspectorate.
The incident involved a BMW, driven by a 30-year-old man, and an Audi, with two drivers of unspecified ages. The BMW was traveling from Eigenrieden towards Katharinenberg when the driver veered into the oncoming lane, colliding with the Audi.
As a result of the accident, the driver of the BMW succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, while two of the children in the BMW sustained severe injuries. The driver's 27-year-old wife and their three children, aged three, six, and eight, were also in the BMW and were severely injured.
Both occupants of the Audi were injured and taken to a nearby hospital. The extent of their injuries is not currently known.
The road was closed from 12:45 PM to 5:45 PM to allow for an investigation and accident reconstruction. An expert was deployed to assist with the police investigation.
The BMW was impounded and will be further examined by an expert. The total material damage amounts to over 12,000 euros.
