Achieving Greenness is Attainable

In the vibrant city of Neuss, greening projects have become a cornerstone of urban development. These initiatives, which regulate rainwater during heavy rain events and filter harmful substances from the air, have proven to be beneficial in various ways.

The city's commitment to greening is evident as it plans to apply for new funds to continue these projects. The potential source for these funds lies in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW). If approved, each new project could receive €40,000 in funding, a significant boost for the city's greening endeavours.

The Ministry for Environment, Agriculture, Nature and Consumer Protection of North Rhine-Westphalia (Ministerium fΓΌr Umwelt, Landwirtschaft, Natur- und Verbraucherschutz Nordrhein-Westfalen) is responsible for approving potential future funding for building greening in the Neuss city area.

The "ExtraGreen" program, launched in autumn 2020 due to high demand, has already provided funding to 43 greening projects within six months. These projects include one facade greening project and 42 roof greening projects.

Greening projects not only contribute to a cleaner environment but also provide a habitat for insects and help make summer heat stress more bearable.
