Actor Jenna Ortega from the show 'Wednesday' confesses one scripted line from the Netflix production that she declined to utter.

In the darkly comedic Netflix series 'Wednesday', Jenna Ortega delivers a captivating portrayal of the iconic character, Wednesday Addams. Ortega's performance, which has been praised for its human touch, was guided by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, the show's developers and main writers.

The series finds Wednesday enrolled at a new academy after being expelled from secondary school. This academy, filled with peculiar students and teachers, presents a unique challenge for Wednesday, but Ortega's character remains cool and non-emotional, a trait that is true to the character's original roots.

Ortega's co-stars in the series include Luis Guzman as Gomez Addams, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams. The series has received two nominations at the Golden Globe Awards, including one for Best Musical/Comedy Series and another for Ortega in the Best Actress category.

Ortega made a conscious decision to reduce dialogue to make Wednesday's character sound more human. This approach was evident in the 4th episode of the series, where Wednesday receives a black vintage gown as a gift from Thing. Originally, there was a line of dialogue about Wednesday expressing excitement about the gown and self-loathing, but Ortega chose to omit it, adding another layer of mystery to her character.

The Independent reported on Ortega's revelation about the changes made to her lines. Ortega also declined to claim certain lines in the initial script for her character, further emphasising her commitment to portraying Wednesday as authentically as possible.

'Wednesday' is a Netflix series based on Charles Addams' famous 'Addams Family' characters. The series has been well-received by audiences and critics alike, and Ortega's performance as Wednesday Addams has been particularly lauded. As the series continues, fans eagerly await to see what Ortega will do next in this darkly comedic world.
