Wotan Wilke Möhring, a familiar face from the northern German "Tatort" series, has been announced as the new team captain on the popular German quiz show "Wer weiß denn sowas?". The ARD program director made the announcement, with Möhring set to share the captaincy role alongside quizmaster Bernhard Hoecker.

Möhring's journey with "Wer weiß denn sowas?" began as a guest in nine episodes, sometimes on Elton's team and sometimes with Bernhard Hoëcker. He will now step into the role previously held by Elton, who left the show in April to focus on personal matters.

Kai Pflaume, the show's host, expressed his delight in Möhring's appointment, stating that he was the preferred candidate from the start. Pflaume described Möhring as a likable person with a heart, bringing humor, knowledge, ambition, and enthusiasm for solving tricky questions.

Möhring, in turn, expressed his excitement about gaining new knowledge, funny questions, and lots of fun on the show. Bernhard Hoecker offered words of encouragement to the new team captain, advising him to have fun and not worry about pressure.

The new episodes of "Wer weiß denn sowas?" will air from October 13th, weekdays at 6 pm on the first channel. In addition, a special "Wer weiß denn sowas XXL" is scheduled for the Saturday before.

The quiz show has been a hit with audiences for years, with the 11th season reaching new record ratings. The average market share for the season was 20.2 percent in the overall audience and 14.6 percent in the 20-59 age group.

With Möhring's addition to the team, audiences can look forward to an exciting new chapter in the "Wer weiß denn sowas?" journey.
