Adjusted entry fees for PokerStars Open tournaments at European Poker Tour (EPT) venues.
In a significant move aimed at promoting fair play and addressing player comfort, PokerStars has announced a series of changes to its live event format. These adjustments, part of PokerStars' ongoing efforts to provide a world-class experience, are set to be implemented at upcoming PokerStars Open events and European Poker Tour (EPT) stops.
The PokerStars Open events scheduled for the remainder of the 2025 festival schedule include Barcelona, Malta, and Prague. Notably, the PokerStars Open event is set to take place next week in Namur, Belgium, from May 28 to June 9.
TobyStone, EPT Tournament Director, highlighted the commitment to maintaining a top-tier experience, especially at larger events with reduced waitlists and queueing time. One of the key changes is the elimination of 10-handed play in any tournament, with a maximum of 9 players at tables. When players reach the money, the maximum number at a table will be 8.
These modifications are a direct result of player input and the evolving demands of large-scale live tournaments. TobyStone emphasized that these changes are designed to help maintain PokerStars' reputation for delivering an exceptional player experience, especially at events with increased attendance.
Indeed, the success of PokerStars Open events and the continued growth at EPTs is evident, as seen in the record-setting attendance at EPT Monte Carlo and EPT Prague.
In addition to these changes, PokerStars has increased the buy-in for PokerStars Open events at EPT stops. The buy-ins for regular, Cup, and High Roller events respectively are €1,650, €825, and €2,700. However, the buy-ins for standalone PokerStars Open events, such as the ones in Namur, Malaga, Manchester, and Cannes, remain unchanged.
Furthermore, PokerStars has made changes to the Power Path, ensuring a more level playing field by removing direct buy-ins to Step 4. All players are now required to progress through the steps starting from a $0.50 Spin & Go. This change is likely to encourage more recreational players to participate and reduce the dominance of professional players in qualification events.
These updates mark a new chapter in PokerStars' live event strategy, demonstrating the company's commitment to continuously improving the player experience and adapting to the evolving needs of the poker community.
At upcoming PokerStars Open and European Poker Tour (EPT) events, players can expect to enjoy casino-games such as live poker in a more comfortable and fair setting, as PokerStars has eliminated 10-handed play in all tournaments and raised the buy-in for selected events. This move is part of PokerStars' ongoing efforts to provide a casino-and-gambling experience that is second to none, especially at larger events.
