FBI Director announces 'agents in operation' as they execute search warrant at John Bolton's residence

Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are carrying out their operation at the residence of John Bolton.

Federal agents are conducting a search of the home of former US National Security Adviser John Bolton, in a case reminiscent of a previous high-profile investigation involving former President Donald Trump over classified documents.

The search at Bolton's residence in Bethesda, Maryland, is linked to an investigation into his handling of classified documents. Authorities are examining whether Bolton "illegally shared or possessed classified information" during his White House tenure as National Security Advisor.

The current investigation against John Bolton concerns allegations of mishandling classified documents, which originated in 2020 and has recently been renewed with FBI raids on his house and office in Maryland and Washington, D.C. The investigation is being led by FBI Director Kash Patel, who was appointed by former President Trump.

Patel described the operation as FBI agents being "on mission." However, critics have raised concerns about Patel's experience and his previous statements regarding targeting political opponents.

Bolton served as Trump's national security adviser during the first term and has been a vocal critic of the former president since his tenure. He has particularly questioned Trump's understanding of international affairs and has criticized Trump's handling of the Ukraine conflict.

Interestingly, the investigation echoes a previous high-profile case, but unlike the Trump case, it has not been dropped. The case involving Trump was later dropped in 2024 after his re-election. Patel had publicly criticized the federal raids on Trump's property.

The search was observed by journalists from AFP, but Bolton has not been charged or detained. The New York Post reported that the search was ordered by FBI Director Kash Patel.

Bolton's criticism of Trump did not start with the current investigation. After his tenure, Bolton became a vocal critic of President Trump, and his stance is likely to add fuel to the ongoing political debate.
