The American College of Radiology (ACR) and the Society of Imaging Informatics in Medicine have opened a comment period for radiologists, health systems, industry partners, and their members to review and submit feedback on the draft 2026 Practice Parameters and Technical Standards for artificial intelligence (AI) in radiology. The review period runs from August 4 to September 26, 2025.

The draft document, titled "2026 Practice Parameters and Technical Standards," focuses on AI in imaging workflows and aims to provide a national framework for integrating AI into clinical practice. It is designed for radiologists, healthcare systems, and industry partners and addresses five key issues: governance and accountability, clinical validation, performance monitoring, bias mitigation, transparency, integration strategies, and ongoing quality assurance.

The document also addresses bias mitigation and transparency in algorithm design and deployment, emphasizing the importance of maintaining quality in the integration of AI. ACR and SIIM members are encouraged to review the draft and provide feedback during the comment period. The feedback provided will be considered in the final version of the document.

For more information about the draft document and the feedback process, visit the ACR website. The deadline for providing feedback is September 26, 2025. The ACR website serves as a resource for obtaining updates on the document and the final version.

This draft document is a significant step towards ensuring the safe and effective integration of AI in radiology practice, and the feedback period provides an opportunity for ACR and SIIM members to contribute to the development of the document.
