Air Traffic Specialist Greg Phillips, holding the title A.A.E., now takes on the role of Chief Operating Officer within the Philadelphia Department of Aviation.

Greg Phillips Appointed as COO for City of Philadelphia Department of Aviation

Greg Phillips, an accomplished aviation professional, has been appointed as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the City of Philadelphia Department of Aviation. Phillips brings a wealth of experience in airport operations, management, and development to his new role, which he is set to begin on May 12, 2025.

Phillips holds an MBA in executive leadership from the University of Denver, Daniels College of Business, and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the United States Military Academy, West Point. He is also an Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE).

Phillips' career in aviation spans over three decades, during which he has served in various key positions. Prior to his appointment, he was the Director of Aviation at the Colorado Springs Airport. Before that, he served as the Executive Director of Aviation at Vail/Eagle County Regional Airport.

Phillips is known for his ability to manage teams and projects while focusing on exceptional customer service and building positive stakeholder relations. He played a significant role in the development of the Denver International Airport during his time at the Federal Aviation Administration. Before joining the private sector, he also served as Airport Director at Pangborn Memorial Airport in Washington.

In his new role, Phillips will oversee the ongoing capital development program at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) and focus on enhancing the customer experience. The City of Philadelphia Department of Aviation CEO, Atif Saeed, is excited about the recruitment of Phillips, praising his extensive experience in airport operations and management.

Phillips is also active in the aviation community, currently serving as the chair of AAAE's Civil/Military Relations Committee. He has also been a member of the national AAAE Board of Directors.

In addition to his aviation career, Phillips served as a helicopter pilot in the Army. He holds FAA commercial and instrument pilot ratings for airplane and helicopter.

Phillips is looking forward to working alongside the current leadership team at PHL and contributing to the continued growth and success of the airport. He will undoubtedly bring his expertise and passion for aviation to his new position, ensuring the continued provision of high-quality services to the passengers of Philadelphia International Airport.
