Alleged Attack at Verdi Event in Munich Resulted in Charges Being Filed
In a shocking turn of events, an indictment was filed against a 24-year-old Afghan national named Farhad N. by the Federal Prosecutor's Office on August 19, 2025. The indictment stems from an incident that occurred on February 13, 2025, in Munich's city center.
Farhad N. is suspected of two counts of murder, attempted murder in 44 cases, bodily harm, severe bodily harm, and dangerous interference with road traffic. The charges are outlined under sections 211 Abs. 2 Var. 4, 5 and 7, 223 Abs. 1, ยง 224 Abs. 1 Nr. 2 and 5, and 315b Abs. 1 Nr. 3 and Abs. 3 i.V.m. ยง 315 Abs. 3 StGB of the German Penal Code.
The tragic incident resulted in the death of a 37-year-old woman and her 2-year-old daughter, and the injury of 44 others, some seriously or critically. The incident took place during a Verdi union event.
Farhad N. is accused of deliberately driving his car into the crowd, an act motivated by an exaggerated religious ideology as a response to the suffering of Muslims in Islamic countries.
