Amazon founder Jeff Bezos plans to launch his estranged wife MacKenzie Bezos and singer Katy Perry aboard a Blue Origin spacecraft today.

On April 14 at 3:30 PM CET, an unprecedented space mission is set to take off. The mission, organised by Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon and owner of Blue Origin, will be carried out using the New Shepard spacecraft, Blue Origin's own rocket.

The all-female crew, led by Lauren Sánchez, Jeff Bezos's fiancée and a former TV host, includes media personality Gayle King, internationally renowned pop singer Katy Perry, activist Amanda Nguyen, renowned scientist Aisha Bowe, successful entrepreneur Kerianne Flynn, and film producer Kerianne Flynn.

The crew's spacesuits, bright blue in colour, have received approval from prominent US broadcaster Gayle King on Instagram. Each crew member, including Katy Perry, has tried on and tested their custom-made spacesuits. Upon receiving the invitation, Katy Perry jokingly wondered about her outfit, later receiving a custom-made spacesuit.

The mission is a suborbital flight, lasting around 11 minutes in total. During some minutes of the flight, the participants will experience weightlessness. The New Shepard rocket will take the crew to an altitude of approximately 100 kilometers, the Kármán line.

Katy Perry and Lauren Sánchez add celebrity glamour to the mission. Kerianne Flynn, a successful entrepreneur, and Amanda Nguyen, another renowned scientist, round out the crew with their diverse backgrounds and achievements.

This mission marks a significant step forward in space exploration and gender equality, demonstrating the potential for diverse crews to participate in space travel. Stay tuned for updates on this historic mission.
