Studio Ghibli's beloved animated classic, 'Howl's Moving Castle', is set to make a triumphant return to cinemas from September 20 to 24. This re-release, presented by GKIDS and Fathom Entertainment, offers both longtime fans and new viewers the opportunity to experience the film in its original format.

Directed by the renowned Hayao Miyazaki, 'Howl's Moving Castle' tells the enchanting story of Sophie, a young woman who works in a hat shop and crosses paths with the mysterious wizard Howl. When the Witch of the Waste casts a spell on Sophie, transforming her into an elderly woman, she embarks on a magical journey aboard Howl's moving castle to break the curse.

Miyazaki, a significant contributor to the animation of 'Howl's Moving Castle', was deeply involved in every step of the production process, from initial layout to final animation. If he was dissatisfied with an animator's work, he would change it and draw a rough draft. The key animators and other animators were responsible for bringing Miyazaki's rough drafts to the final stage.

Akihiko Yamashita, who served as supervising animator on the project, discussed the demanding production schedule. During the last six months of production, Yamashita worked 14 hours a day with no days off.

The re-release of 'Howl's Moving Castle' is part of a larger celebration of Studio Ghibli's legacy. It forms part of the annual Studio Ghibli Fest, aiming to introduce younger generations to Ghibli's storytelling and to allow older audiences to reconnect with timeless classics.

This event is not just a chance to relive the magic of 'Howl's Moving Castle', but also an opportunity for Miyazaki's artistry to be appreciated by a new generation. Miyazaki personally drew many parts of the animation for 'Howl's Moving Castle', ensuring that every frame is a testament to his unique vision.

So, gather your friends and family, and get ready to embark on a magical journey once more. 'Howl's Moving Castle' will be back in cinemas from September 20 to 24. Don't miss out on this chance to experience the film in its original glory.
