Annual celebration of the senior members and honorary unit of the local volunteer fire department during summer
The Senior and Honorary Department of the Volunteer Fire Department Bedburg-Hau recently held their summer festival, bringing together members, old and new, for an evening of camaraderie and reminiscing.
The event, held at the "Zur Dorfschmiede" inn in the district of Till-Moyland, was attended by Alfred Derks, the deputy mayor of the municipality, who expressed his respect and gratitude towards the members for sacrificing their leisure time for decades. He considered them a role model for the younger generation.
Fire Chief Klaus Elsmann addressed the gathering, emphasising that the Senior and Honorary Department is more than just a circle of former active members. He mentioned that the experiences, stories, and unity of the department are a treasure.
After the speeches, the focus was on socialising. Freshly grilled food and cool drinks were served, and there was much laughter as old stories came to life.
