Annual Street Celebration in Bangkok, Delivering a Globally Recognized Festival Atmosphere

Bangkok, Thailand's vibrant capital city, is gearing up for an unparalleled celebration of Songkran, the Thai New Year, from April 12 to 16, 2025. This year, the festivities are part of the "Maha Songkarn World Water Festival 2025," endorsed by the Thai government, promising a blend of tradition, modern celebrations, and cultural immersion.

The heart of the celebrations can be found at EM DISTRICT, a transformation of Emporium, EmQuartier, and EmSphere into an entertainment hub. The "Thai Hussa Maha Songkran" festival, officially recognized as intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO, will take centre stage from April 12-14. This event features a grand water splash and street food at EmSphere, and traditional performances, Thai classical game booths, and a concert at Benchasiri Park.

Bangkok's famous street food vendors will gather at EmSphere from April 3 to 20 for the "Thaitainment Market," offering a vibrant Thai-style bar and an impressive water tunnel entrance. Meanwhile, EmQuartier's Thai Culinary Festival, held from April 3 to 16, showcases the country's finest fruits and street food.

For those interested in exploring Thai heritage, the "Thai Pop Market" at Emporium offers a curated selection of Thai souvenirs, local fashion, and premium Thai fruits. Traditional craft workshops and live Thai music performances are also available for visitors.

The "Kud Thai" event, held from March 27 to April 20, highlights Thailand's craftsmanship and Thai gourmet by selecting the best-in-class of each category.

G-Circuit's Songkran Gala 2.0, from April 11 to 14, is one of Asia's largest LGBTQ+ festivals, hosted at UOB Live and Tribes Sky Beach Club, EmSphere, and welcomes over 30,000 attendees.

During Songkran, Bangkok experiences lighter traffic, making it an ideal time for tourists to explore the city. The city, which has been recognised as the "Best City" in the 2025 DestinAsian Readers' Choice Awards, offers opportunities to delve into Thai heritage, indulge in local delicacies, and join in the celebrations.

So, if you're looking for a unique cultural experience, mark your calendars for Songkran in Bangkok, 2025. It's set to be an unforgettable journey through Thailand's rich traditions and modern festivities.
