Anticipated challenges in the second round of Invest BW initiative
The Ministry of Economics, Labour, and Tourism has announced the launch of the second call for proposals for the fourth phase of Invest BW. This funding call, worth a total of 30 million euros, is focused on several major future topics, including Health, Nutrition, GreenTech, and Bioeconomy.
Companies of any size, start-ups, and research institutions are eligible to apply for this funding. Applications can be submitted between August 20, 2025, and October 10, 2025, at 1 pm. Further details and information on the application process, the selection and evaluation of applications, the funding call, and the administrative guidelines can be found online.
The submitted projects will be evaluated based on predefined funding criteria and competitive aspects. Baden-Württemberg aims to consolidate its leading role as a health region and provide answers to the growing challenges of climate change, changing eating habits, and the increasing demand for healthy, sustainable food. Innovations in these areas can make companies more resilient to global crises and contribute to a climate-neutral economy.
The secure supply of raw materials and the development of new materials and sustainable production processes are also in focus. The call for proposals bundles two major thematic areas: medical innovations, the use of health data, new approaches in food production, and materials, resources, GreenTech, and Bioeconomy.
In addition to the application process, the Ministry has planned a web seminar to take place on September 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM. During this seminar, details of the funding call and the application process will be explained, and questions will be answered. Registration for the web seminar is possible online.
The selection of thematic areas is oriented towards the future images of the impulse paper of the technology commissioners of the Minister of Economic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Katharina Höhlzle. It's important to note that as of October 10, 2025, 1 AM, there is no publicly available information on which companies and research institutions submitted project proposals for the second call of the fourth phase of the Invest BW Innovation Fund.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Tourism can be contacted via the Press Office or a Citizen's Representative. Contact details can be found online. The third Invest BW call for proposals, with the topic "Mobility and Transport" in focus, is planned for the end of 2025.
