Worcester Autumn Regatta Set to Conclude the Rowing Season

The Worcester Autumn Regatta, one of the last events of the rowing season, is set to take place this weekend on the River Severn. Over 220 athletes from various clubs will participate in this exciting event, with racing happening downstream over approximately 800m.

Among the competitors, British Rowing Master Trainer Cat Trentham will return to racing in a packed 30-39 Lightweight Women's 2000m field. Pippa Biggs and Meg Knight will represent British interest in the Women's 19-29 2000m category.

The championship will also feature a 500m race and a 3000m team relay event, providing a mix of distances for the athletes to compete in. It's an opportunity for some crews to end their long regatta season, while others will have their last opportunity to race before winter training begins.

The Worcester Autumn Regatta will also welcome visiting clubs and wish all athletes a successful regatta. Other events happening this weekend include the South Coast Championships, Monster the Loch, RoWindermere, and Great Ouse Marathon.

The event will also see the return of the English Indoor Rowing Championships after a four-year break. Ian Wilde, a stalwart of Sub 7 IRC, will compete in the men's 40-49 2000m. Roger Stainforth, a record holder and British Champion, will compete in the 80-84 age category.

Loïc Schalbetter, the 100m world record holder, will also be competing over 2000m. The championship will run alongside the Rainhill Trials, adding another layer of excitement to the weekend.
