In the heart of Hanau's Lamboy district, a fire erupted in a multi-family home on Friday afternoon around 13:00. Reports of heavy smoke coming from the basement prompted the immediate dispatch of firefighters and police to the scene.

Upon arrival, the smoke was confirmed, necessitating swift action. The fire in the basement was quickly extinguished by the firefighters, but the smoke damage was significant. As a result, the building is currently uninhabitable, and residents have been temporarily relocated.

A 38-year-old resident had to be rescued from the second floor using a ladder due to the smoke in the stairwell. She was taken to the hospital with suspected smoke inhalation. Fortunately, all other residents managed to evacuate the building safely. Two dogs and three cats were also rescued from the building.

The police are investigating the cause of the fire in the Lamboy district of Hanau. Possible negligence is being considered as a potential cause. The head of the Southeast Hesse Police Headquarters leading the investigation is Police Chief Ralf FÀßler.
