Apple launches iOS 26 Beta 9, featuring essential bug corrections, in anticipation of iPhone 17's unveiling; learn how to secure the update now.
Apple has announced that the highly anticipated iOS 26 update will be rolled out gradually on the last generation iPhones, following the launch of the iPhone 17 lineup at its "Awe Dropping" event on September 9.
The update, which comes a week after the Beta 8 update, is not introducing any new features but focuses on fixing bugs and improving the overall performance of the operating system. According to Apple, issues with core applications such as Apple Intelligence, Bluetooth, Camera, CarPlay, Siri, Weather, and others have been addressed.
Small issues in Kernel, Journaling, Contacts, lock screen, App Intents, and WebKit have also been addressed, while a bug that caused system updates to consume unnecessary storage space has been fixed. The camera app glitch which kept the mode selector expanded on launch has been rectified, and Siri's integration with ChatGPT, which occasionally returned outdated responses, has been improved.
The final beta version of the iOS 26 update appears to have been released, and the stable build is expected to ship with the iPhone 17 lineup. However, it is worth noting that the update will not be available for the iPhone X and previous devices.
For those who have enrolled in Apple's beta program, the update is available on iPhone 11 and newer devices. To update to the iOS 26 Beta 9, users need to go to Settings, then General, and click on Software Update.
Apple has also fixed issues with Image Playground and Genmoji reported by Japanese language users. These improvements aim to provide a smoother and more enjoyable user experience for all Apple device users.
The stable version of the iOS 26 update is expected to be released on Monday, September 15, 2025, coinciding with the launch of the iPhone 17 series. Apple continues to demonstrate its commitment to delivering high-quality software updates that enhance the user experience and address any issues that may arise.
