Applying for the Indonesia Digital Nomad Visa: A Three-Step Guide

The Indonesian government has opened its doors to digital nomads with the introduction of the Remote Worker Visa (E33G) Program, officially known as the Indonesia Digital Nomad Visa. Launched in April 2024, this visa offers a unique opportunity for remote workers to live and work in the country for up to six years.

To apply, applicants must meet certain criteria. They need to have a valid passport with at least 18 months validity and three blank pages, demonstrate assets of at least 130,000 USD, and prove a minimum income of $60,000 USD per year. Additionally, they must present a lease or reservation of where they will stay in Indonesia and prove they have $2,000 USD in the bank for at least three months.

The visa is initially valid for one year and is renewable for a second year. Once approved, applicants have 90 days to enter Indonesia. Upon arrival, they must apply for their temporary residence card (KITAS) online. There is a $150 USD application fee for the visa application, and a $165 USD fee for the permit of stay for KITAS.

Once the KITAS application is approved, applicants will also need to apply for a NPWP (local tax ID), making them a tax resident in Indonesia.

However, it's important to note that not all nationalities are eligible for the visa. The following nationalities are not eligible: Afghanistan, Cameroon, Guinea, Israel, Kosovo, Liberia, North Korea, and Somalia. Furthermore, only remote employees with employment contracts with companies established outside of Indonesia may apply.
