Arizona State University Offers 22% Tuition Discount for Eligible California Community College Students

Arizona State University (ASU) has announced a new pilot program that offers a 22% tuition discount for California community college students and alumni pursuing an online degree. The program, open to students and graduates of participating California community colleges, aims to provide new doors for students seeking affordable, high-quality pathways to a bachelor's degree.

According to a press release from ASU, the program is open to students and alumni of California community colleges, including Merced College and Orange Coast College, among others in partnership with ASU. To be eligible, students must have earned at least 30 credits or an associate degree from one of these colleges. At least one of the credits must be from an eligible California community college.

The list of eligible California community colleges for the tuition discount program includes Coastline College, Glendale Community College, Golden West College, Hartnell College, Irvine Valley College, Long Beach City College, Merced College, Moorpark College, Mt. San Jacinto College - San Jacinto campus and Menifee campus, Orange Coast College, Saddleback College, San Diego Mesa College, San Diego Miramar College, and Victor Valley College.

The discount brings the total cost per credit hour from $580 to $450, making it more affordable for students to pursue their higher education goals. The partnership between ASU and California Community Colleges is designed to unlock opportunities for students without requiring them to leave their communities.

"The partnership between ASU Online and California Community Colleges opens new opportunities for students," said South Orange Community College District Chancellor Julianna M. Barnes, a previous CEOCCC president. "It expands access to affordable, seamless transfer pathways, especially for students from rural and underserved communities."

Merced College President Chris Vitelli added, "The partnership expands access to affordable, seamless transfer pathways, especially for students from rural and underserved communities."

The pilot program does not apply to those who have already completed a bachelor's degree, and students who have previously enrolled at ASU are not eligible for the program. No special applications are needed to take part in the program, and students can find the program details on ASU's program website.

The partnership between ASU and California Community Colleges has received the support of the Chief Executive Officers of the California Community College (CEOCCC) Board. Together, the two institutions aim to help students achieve their goals, apply their skills locally, and help shape their communities' future.

ASU Online currently enrolls over 15,000 students from California, and the new pilot program is expected to further increase the number of students pursuing their degrees online. The program is part of ASU's commitment to providing affordable, accessible, and high-quality education to students across the globe.
