Arrest made in Tübingen as Polish authorities detain suspected thief for burglary
In a significant development, a 19-year-old suspect was arrested early on August 8, 2025, for suspected residential burglary in Reutlingen, Germany.
The incident occurred just before 1 a.m. The source of the information is the Police Headquarters Reutlingen, transmitted via news aktuell.
The suspect, who has a criminal record for previous theft offenses, was apprehended after attempting to flee from the residence. However, during the attempt, the suspect fell on the house's terrace. The suspect was taken into custody by the police and placed in handcuffs.
The homeowner, noticing a flashlight beam in his residence in the Wanne district, raised an alert, leading to the arrest. The suspect was temporarily detained by the police and presented to the judge at the Tübingen District Court on Friday afternoon.
The Public Prosecutor's Office in Tübingen is investigating the suspect, and a specialized investigation group of the Esslingen Criminal Police Directorate, based in Tübingen, is also involved. Investigations are ongoing to determine if the suspect is involved in other crimes.
It is worth noting that a specialized investigative group handling property crimes has been active from Esslingen with a base in Tübingen since August 25, 2025, investigating similar burglary cases. However, the known cases mention a 28-year-old suspect, not a 19-year-old.
The bank cards and car key, which the suspect took during the burglary, were returned to the victim before the arrival of the police. For further inquiries, contact Ramona Döttling at the Police Headquarters Reutlingen (contact details provided).
The suspect is currently in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
