Fugitive with Multiple Arrest Warrants Apprehended by Federal Police
A 41-year-old man wanted by two public prosecutor's offices with a total of five arrest warrants was apprehended by the Federal Police Inspectorate Magdeburg on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 15:50 on a train from Burg to Magdeburg.
The man, who has a history of convictions for negligent bodily injury, leaving the scene of an accident, forgery of evidence, driving without a valid driver's license, embezzlement, and negligent drunk driving in combination with driving without a driver's license, was unable to pay the total amount of 15,315 euros to prevent his arrest. As a result, he was taken to a detention facility.
The Public Prosecutor's Office in Düsseldorf issued an arrest warrant on May 20, 2025, while the Public Prosecutor's Office in Potsdam issued three enforcement arrest warrants based on the man's previous convictions. In addition to these, there were four other arrest warrants against the man from the public prosecutors' offices in Potsdam and Düsseldorf.
The man had failed to pay the imposed fines in full nor served the respective prison sentences for his previous convictions. In July 2024, the same court imposed a further fine of 1,800 euros or 60 days of imprisonment for forgery of evidence and driving without a valid driver's license. The Regional Court in Brandenburg an der Havel imposed a fine of 4,900 euros or 140 days of imprisonment for negligent bodily injury and leaving the scene of an accident in February 2023.
In September, the man was convicted of embezzlement and sentenced to a fine of 2,400 euros or 80 days of imprisonment. Despite a conviction by the Regional Court in Düsseldorf for negligent drunk driving in combination with driving without a driver's license, resulting in a fine of 8,400 euros or 280 days of imprisonment, the man did not change his behavior.
