Arrests made consecutively by Polish police
In the past week, our city has witnessed a series of incidents and accidents that have left an impact on its residents. Here's a round-up of some of the key events.
On Sunday evening, a single-family home in Ziegelhaldenstraße was broken into, with cash and valuable items stolen. Elsewhere, a burglar targeted a residential building on Bruckner Way, stealing jewelry. Fortunately, no one was injured in either incident.
The week also saw several road accidents. On the Airport Street, a rear-end collision occurred due to insufficient safety distance and lack of attention, causing minor injuries to several individuals. A pedestrian and a cyclist suffered severe injuries in a traffic accident on a pedestrian and cycle path parallel to the B463. A 56-year-old motorcyclist and his 55-year-old passenger were slightly injured in a traffic accident on the B465 near Seeburg.
In a bizarre incident, an intoxicated E-scooter rider had to provide a blood sample on Sunday evening after riding on the federal road B27. Meanwhile, a hit-and-run incident occurred at the Stuttgarter Straße roundabout, resulting in a suspected driver having to surrender his driver's license due to a preliminary blood alcohol content of over two promille.
A fire broke out in a multi-family home undergoing renovation, with the cause traced back to a burning built-in refrigerator. The affected apartment is no longer habitable due to fire damage and smoke residue. Another fire occurred in the kitchen of an apartment on Königsstraße, Reutlingen, but was promptly extinguished.
In a less common occurrence, a bicycle rider sustained minor injuries on Monday after colliding with a wild boar. A car caught fire on Tübinger Straße, resulting in a total economic loss amounting to several thousand euros.
Unfortunately, criminal activities were not limited to burglaries. A 34-year-old was taken into custody by the police on Sunday evening after damaging a 55-year-old's bicycle, lunging at the victim, stealing several bottles of alcoholic beverages, and resisting police measures. A 52-year-old man is under investigation for exposing himself to children at a playground in Gabriele-Münter-Straße.
The estimated material damage from these incidents is significant, with the fire in the multi-family home causing an estimated damage of around 100,000 euros, and the car fire on Tübinger Straße causing a damage of several thousand euros. The total estimated material damage to the two vehicles involved in the traffic accidents is around 18,000 euros.
As we move forward, let's hope for a safer and less eventful week ahead for our city.
