Arrests Made in Freiburg After Multiple Theft Incidents

In the heart of Freiburg, Germany, an investigation is underway following several reported thefts of bags and backpacks in the Seepark area on July 2nd, 2025.

The Freiburg-Weststadt police post has taken over the investigation, with five suspects aged between 25 and 41 currently under scrutiny for suspected theft. The perpetrator, however, remains unknown.

The thefts occurred when the victims were near or in the water, and large amounts of cash and suspected stolen goods were secured during the control. Two mobile phones belonging to victims were also discovered during the investigation.

A control by police patrols at the "Stefan-Meier-Straße" gathering place resulted in the discovery of additional abandoned mobile phones and backpacks.

A significant breakthrough was made when a suspect staying at the Freiburg refugee shelter was connected to the recovery of the second mobile phone and stolen backpack.
