Arrival Timeline and Estimated Costs for Flying Taxis in Spain

The future of urban transportation is taking flight, as UrbanLink and Spanish company Crisalion Mobility join forces to revolutionise the electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft sector in Europe.

By the end of this decade, the service will initially start in Spain and Italy, specifically in Madrid and Milan, with plans to expand across the Old Continent. UrbanLink has secured a pre-sale for 20 electric eVTOL aircraft, and the Spanish eVTOL development company, Crisalion, will utilise its patented technology, FlyFree, in the collaboration.

UrbanLink's electric aircraft, capable of carrying up to five passengers plus a pilot, aim to provide zero-emission trips of up to 800 kilometres by 2028, with the range extending to 1200 kilometres by 2030. To make this a reality, the aircraft need to be homologated to move around Europe.

The arrival of flying taxis in Spain is highly anticipated, with several companies, including UrbanLink, Volocopter, and Airbus, planning to bring them to the country before the end of the decade. Experts estimate that the price of a flight for around 30 kilometres could start at 150 euros per passenger during the early years, potentially decreasing to 50 euros per passenger by the end of the 2030s.

In addition to the deployment of electric air taxis, multiple companies are planning the construction of vertiports for eVTOL aircraft in Spain. The service, which will offer transportation between cities in the same country and nearby territories, is set to start operations by the end of this decade.

UrbanLink's ambitions don't stop at Europe; the company is also working to deploy its services in specific locations in Florida, such as the city of Miami. As the world gears up for the arrival of flying taxis, it's clear that the skies are set to become a busy new frontier for transportation.
