Assessing the Sky with These Three Notable Models
The Swiss luxury watch brand, TAG Heuer, is set to release a new addition to its iconic Carrera collection in October 2025. The Carrera Astronomer, with its unique astronomical lunar phase complication, is a testament to the brand's commitment to precision, innovation, and style.
A Futuristic Twist on a Classic Design
The Carrera Astronomer boasts a 39mm stainless steel case, polished and satin-finished to perfection, with prominent horns and a domed sapphire crystal, anti-reflective on both sides. Three variants of the watch will be available at launch, including a limited edition with turquoise accents, a classic stainless steel version, and a two-tone edition with rose gold.
The limited edition with turquoise details, limited to 500 pieces, brings a fresh twist to the design, with Super-Luminova in glowing turquoise setting futuristic accents. The two-tone variant, limited to 500 pieces, features indices, hands, and middle links of the stainless steel bracelet made of 18k 5N rose gold.
Precision and Accuracy at the Heart of the Astronomer
The heart of the Astronomer is its newly developed lunar phase display, which uses a rotating disc system to show seven lunar stages with precision and accuracy. The lunar phase display advances every day, exactly at one o'clock in the morning, and remains accurate to within one day over more than a century.
Powered by an automatic caliber 7 (base Sellita SW385-1), the Carrera Astronomer beats at 28,800 semi-oscillations per hour and offers a power reserve of 56 hours. It drives the hours, minutes, seconds, and the astronomical lunar phase complication.
Pricing and Availability
The pricing for the Carrera Astronomer varies depending on the variant. The stainless steel model starts at around 4,450 euros, while the limited edition with turquoise details is around 4,350 euros. The two-tone variant with rose gold is approximately 6,900 euros.
A Legacy of Precision and Innovation
Since 1963, the TAG Heuer Carrera has been associated with clarity, precision, and speed. Jack Heuer, the grandson of Edouard Heuer, designed the Carrera for the racetrack, with a minimalistic, legible, and functional design.
In the 40s and 50s, Heuer experimented with lunar phases and calendar watches, paving the way for the modern, high-precision interpretation seen in the Carrera Astronomer. The screwed case back of the Carrera Astronomer bears an engraved observatory motif, a nod to this rich history.
With the Carrera Astronomer, TAG Heuer reintroduces this lunar phase feature, combining it with the timeless Carrera aesthetics and state-of-the-art technology. The Carrera Astronomer offers 100 meters of water resistance, making it suitable for everyday use.
The new TAG Heuer Carrera Astronomer is a testament to the brand's commitment to innovation, precision, and style. It is a watch that combines the best of the past with the excitement of the future, making it a must-have for any watch enthusiast.
