The Science4Life startup competition, a renowned event in the Life Sciences, Chemistry, and Energy sectors, is set to commence on September 1, 2025. Now in its 27th year, the competition has been a catalyst for numerous successful startups since 1998. Dr. Lutz MΓΌller, project manager of Science4Life e.V., affirms that the competition's primary aim is to make startup ideas visible, support projects, and connect them with relevant stakeholders.

In this competition, participants gain access to over 300 industry experts, providing a wealth of knowledge and guidance. The competition offers a prize pool of more than 60,000 euros, a significant boost for young companies aiming to launch into business.

The competition is divided into three phases: the idea phase, the concept phase, and the business plan phase. During the idea phase, the focus is on the business idea and its market potential. Participants are encouraged to submit their ideas online as a three-page idea sketch by October 6, 2025.

The concept phase involves working out the business model in detail with experts. Participants can receive professional coaching with a personal sparring partner to help refine their ideas. In the business plan phase, an investor-ready business plan in the form of a pitch deck is created.

Notable past participants include Tubulis, which completed a financing round of 128 million euros in 2024, and Reverion, which has already collected around 100 million euros in capital and is working on technology to actively reverse climate change.

Webinars on startup-relevant topics are held during the competition, and the Science4Life Academy Day offers workshops to further develop and refine ideas. The best teams are invited to the digital Science4Life Academy Day in November. All participants receive detailed feedback on their business idea.

Participation in previous phases is not a prerequisite for any team. Whether you're a seasoned entrepreneur or a fresh graduate with a groundbreaking idea, the Science4Life startup competition welcomes all.

The Science4Life competition also includes the Science4Life Energy Award, recognising exceptional ideas in the Energy sector. The competition's goal is to provide a crucial boost for young companies' successful launch into business.
