Ather Rizta receives an over-the-air update that activates its touchscreen functionality
Ather Energy, a leading electric vehicle manufacturer, has announced the introduction of a unique city-focused cruise control system called Infinite Cruise. This new feature is now available on the Ather 450 Apex, joining the list of existing features such as Magic Twist, Auto Hold, Traction Control, and more.
Infinite Cruise is designed to simplify city driving, automatically locking in the scooter's speed even at as low as 10 km/h, making it suitable for stop-and-go traffic. The system combines Cruise Control, Hill Control, and Crawl Control, allowing riders to set a speed with a button press. To speed up, twist the throttle; to slow down, apply brakes or use negative throttle.
Ather Energy's latest software update, AtherStack 7, introduces this smart new feature, along with several others. The update includes Proactive Alerts, which deliver real-time warnings about potential hazards and system issues. Pothole Alerts, powered by an onboard IMU system, are also part of the update, providing riders with advance notice of rough roads.
Crash Alerts, another feature of AtherStack 7, notifies emergency contacts with the rider's live location in case of an accident. The system can differentiate between minor and major crashes, ensuring timely assistance in case of emergencies. Additionally, Crash Alerts displays emergency contacts on the dashboard for bystanders to assist if the rider is unconscious.
ParkSafe, a new feature designed to help riders find safe parking spots, alerts them when parking in high-risk tow zones. LockSafe, another security feature, detects tampering attempts and instantly alerts the owner, allowing remote immobilization of the scooter via the Ather mobile app.
Interestingly, the Rizta model from Ather Energy initially did not come with a touchscreen. However, due to popular demand for the AtherStack Pro features, Ather Energy has enabled the touchscreen on the Rizta Zs through a software update. However, the initial touchscreens were supplied by Xiamen Ougeer Technology, but due to quality issues with the touch sensitivity and durability, they were not included in the production models.
All 450 Apex scooters manufactured in 2025 will be compatible with Infinite Cruise, making it accessible to many city riders. With these new features, Ather Energy continues to push the boundaries of smart mobility solutions, aiming to make city driving safer, more convenient, and more enjoyable.
