Audible Public Safety Alert in Hattersheim by Fire Department Hesse: Initial Warnings Amplified via Loudspeakers

In an effort to increase the acceptance and knowledge of the warning system among the population, Hesse and Munich will be conducting emergency preparedness days on March 13, 2025. This marks the first of its kind in Hesse, as part of a larger initiative to establish statewide warning days in each federal state.

In Hesse, the central control centers of the counties and independent cities will trigger their regional warning media via their own infrastructure. This includes the use of sirens, loudspeaker vehicles, and various warning apps such as hessenWARN, Cell-Broadcast, and NINA. The fire department alarm siren signal is a one-minute continuous tone, interrupted twice, while the siren signal for a local danger is a one-minute ascending and descending tone, followed by an all-clear signal, which is also a one-minute continuous tone.

In Hattersheim am Main, additional information and behavioral instructions will be shared on the fire departments' website, social media channels, and WhatsApp. Citizens are encouraged to familiarise themselves with these methods and signals to ensure they are prepared in emergency situations. Further information on warning and information in Hattersheim am Main can be found at www.feuerwehren-hattersheim.org/notfallvorsorge/warnung-und-information/.

In case of larger events, the city of Hattersheim am Main or the Main-Taunus district will also provide updates via their channels. It's important to note that emergency vehicle drivers should pay attention to these signals and make way for emergency vehicles with special signals.

Unlike the nationwide warning day, there will be no involvement of nationwide media (radio, television), only statewide media FFH and HR will be involved. However, the city of Munich will for the first time test new mobile warning and communication systems as part of a nationwide warning day.

The test alarm will last one minute and will take place at 10:15 AM, followed by an all-clear signal at 10:50 AM.
