Audience at Tyson Events Center Enjoys Sound Management by L-Acoustics
The Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, a versatile venue known for hosting a variety of events, has recently undergone a significant upgrade to its sound system. The new setup, installed by Brown Note Productions, features cutting-edge technology from L-Acoustics and QSC, aiming to enhance the listening experience for all attendees.
The heart of the new system consists of nine arrays of A10i enclosures, three additional arrays of A10i, twelve SB18 IIi subs, and a six-enclosure A10i waterfall array. To manage and monitor this complex setup, Tyson Events Center now boasts a QSC Q-SYS control system.
Nick Palmiotti, OVG's general manager for Sioux City's Tyson Events Center and Orpheum Theatre, has praised the new sound system, particularly for its impact on sports events. Matt Bauer, senior integration project manager at Brown Note Productions, noted that the A10 loudspeaker system offers a cost-effective and performance-proven solution.
The LA7.16i amplified controllers, installed as part of the new system, allow for individual circuit powering of each enclosure and leverage Soundvision's Autofilter tool for even SPL and tonal balance throughout the arena. The system's versatility in supporting various types of shows was a key factor in choosing L-Acoustics A Series as the ideal solution for modernizing the sound system at Tyson Events Center.
The new sound system also improves intelligibility throughout every listening area, addressing the arena's raked, U-shaped seating geometry and end-zone audience areas. The massive wall-mounted video screen in the end-zone area is located above three additional A10i arrays for audio coverage.
The P1 processor, using a Milan-AVB signal path for all audio traffic with an analog fallback, ensures seamless and reliable operation. The center's staff can now easily recall system configurations with the QSC Q-SYS control system.
The first event to benefit from the new sound system was a Musketeers hockey match, significantly improving the game's atmosphere. Fans have also praised the system for its improved coverage and crisp sound quality.
The new sound system at Tyson Events Center follows the successful installation of an L-Acoustics A10 system at Loveland, Colorado's Blue Arena three years ago, by the same company. Oak View Group (OVG), which manages Tyson Events Center, was impressed with the results at Blue Arena and turned to Brown Note Productions and L-Acoustics again for a similar solution.
However, the company responsible for the installation of the modernized L-Acoustics A Series loudspeaker system at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City is not identified in the provided search results.
Tyson Events Center, formerly Gateway Arena, hosts 30 ice hockey games for the Sioux City Musketeers each year, as well as half a dozen indoor football games for the Bandits, in addition to concerts, family shows, corporate events, and other events. The upgraded sound system is set to enhance these diverse offerings, promising a superior audio experience for all attendees.
