Personal preference trumps size for most engagement customers, according to Burnham, and for most people, the idea of an incredibly expensive engagement ring is scary in case it gets lost. Insurance premiums are a concern for people without a security detail, she adds.

Burnham's clients want something special and of value, but not overly flashy. This approach to engagement rings is becoming increasingly popular, as more and more couples seek to express their love and commitment through meaningful, personalised pieces rather than extravagant displays of wealth.
