Augsburg Foundry's Evolution and Future outlook by Everllence SE
In the heart of Augsburg, Germany, a foundry with over two centuries of history has embarked on a new journey. Once known as MAN and MAN Energy Solutions, the company has rebranded as Everllence, signifying a fresh start and a commitment to excellence.
Everllence, a name that combines the terms "ever" and "excellence", is making waves in the industry. The foundry, now under the leadership of Marco Nagler as the foundry manager, is dedicated to moving big things towards zero. This clear and ambitious motto reflects Everllence's focus on sustainability and resource conservation.
The Augsburg site, where Everllence operates, is a shining example of this commitment. Green electricity predominantly powers the site, and 97% of the molding sand is regenerated, reducing waste significantly. To avoid peak loads, most of the melting processes are carried out at night.
A sophisticated load management system controls the energy-intensive melting processes, ensuring efficiency and minimising environmental impact. Digitalisation also plays a crucial role at Everllence, with iPads used in melt planning and QR codes for mold feedback, streamlining processes and improving accuracy.
Everllence trains five to six young hand molders every year in its own training workshop, nurturing the next generation of skilled workers. The company's workforce in Augsburg comprises around 300 employees and 15 trainees, all working together to create high-quality castings.
Four induction crucible furnaces, each with capacities ranging from six to 23 tons, form the heart of the Augsburg plant. Everllence remains steadfast in its location, but the company is consciously distancing itself from the traditional MAN image, signalling a new chapter in its history.
The renaming of the foundry marks the beginning of a new era for Everllence, one that promises to be clearer, more sustainable, and more focused on excellence. As Everllence moves forward, it continues to uphold its rich heritage while embracing the challenges and opportunities of the future.
