August 2025 Spot Cattle Breeding Strategies: Heli's Ambitious Blueprint

Top Fleckvieh Bulls Shake Up Breeding Value Assessment

August is set to be an exciting month for the Fleckvieh breed, as several notable bulls are set to make their debut or shake up the current rankings.

Heli, born from the Guenzinger family in Upper Austria, currently leads the pack with a total breeding value (TBV) of 150. His half-brother, Highness, has seen a 6-point decrease in his overall breeding value, dropping him down the list. Heli's predecessor, Waterline, remains a strong contender in 4th place with TBV 149 and MW 133.

Among the newcomers, Masterplan PP** has impressively climbed to the number 2 spot with a TBV of 149 and MW 138. Masterplan PP** boasts a positive carcass value and excellent fitness inheritance (CV 125), making him a promising addition to the Fleckvieh breed.

Another bull to watch is Meverik PP, a Mercedes PP son, who has made significant strides, gaining six points each in milk and overall breeding values, and one point in meat value. He now stands at GZW 135, MW 127 (+1339 M-kg), FW 114, FIT 106, with exterior scores of 104-98-94-129.

GS Hoeri, a Hokuspokus son from Niederösterreich, has climbed from 7th to 3rd place with GZW 138, MW 127, FW 102, FIT 114, and exterior scores of 99-101-112-112.

The August 2025 breeding value estimation for the Fleckvieh breed includes a base adjustment of -0.8 points in overall breeding value and -0.6 points in milk value.

Wirbelwind P is set to debut as a proven sire in August, but his -12 points in milk, -3 in meat, and +3 in fitness push his overall breeding value down by seven points.

Vitara and Veyron, the first Virginia sons to debut as proven bulls, could be worth considering. Weitweg, a Weitblick son, is also off to a good start, currently the second-ranked paternal half-brother.

Spiritus, a Spartacus son, is worth a closer look, surpassing his full brother Superboy in GZW. The already mentioned Waterline (Wasserspiel × McGyver) is in 4th place with constant breeding values: TBV 149, MW 133, CV 103, FIT 133, exterior 106-99-113-117.

The family that gave birth to the Fleckvieh bull Morewert PP is the family of Bildstöckl. GS Metris Pp* brings similar inheritance profile to Masterplan PP**** with high milk production (+1134 kg) and positive components.

GS Metris Pp* (MV: GS Delux, MMV: GS Herztakt), bred in Lower Austria, is in 3rd place with TBV 149 and MW 135. Epik from the Waldhör family in Niederbayern gained three points in GZW, becoming the best of four full brothers in KB. Epik has GZW 138, MW 122, FW 107, FIT 119, and exterior 100-104-94-115.

The Herzpochen son Hochadel and GS Deluxe each gained one GZW point. Hochadel has GZW 138, MW 120, FW 116, FIT 120, and exterior 96-109-111-116. GS Deluxe has GZW 137, MW 131, FW 111, FIT 104, and exterior 114-98-111-110.

Volmar P (MV: Manigo, MMV: Wipeg) improved by 4 points in GZW, standing now at GZW 131, MW 118, FW 113, FIT 113, with exterior scores of 116-104-119-113. Another bull with TBV 149 in 5th place is the Heiss son GS Hot Dog, particularly strong in the foundation (CV 120).

Heli presents strong carcass value (CV 117), high milk production (+1378 kg), and a balanced exterior with very good udder inheritance (104-98-106-120).

Lastly, the Fleckvieh bull Morewert PP was born from the Bildstöckl family, a name that has become synonymous with Fleckvieh breeding success.
