In a series of updates, the Police Headquarters Recklinghausen has confirmed that a 33-year-old suspect is currently in custody in connection with a fatal attack that occurred in Recklinghausen on August 20. The victim, a 21-year-old resident of Bottrop, is now reported to be in stable condition.

The suspect, identified as Erjon S., a Kosovar national, is being investigated for attempted murder and dangerous bodily harm. The Federal Prosecutor's Office took over the investigation due to the case's significance, as confirmed on September 12, 2025.

The suspect was apprehended shortly after the attack, with an arrest warrant being executed for him. He has been in custody since the previous day. The injury sustained by the victim was caused by a stab wound.
