Authorities have obtained the items stored within a rooftop container.
In an unusual incident on Tuesday evening, a roof box containing various items opened on Autobahn 45 in the Langenselbold triangle, heading towards Aschaffenburg. The incident, which occurred around 7:30 PM, caused temporary closures of two lanes in the direction of Aschaffenburg and one lane in the direction of Giessen.
Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident. However, the scattered items covered approximately 100 meters on two lanes of the highway, posing a potential hazard to traffic. The top part of the roof box also blew onto the opposite lane towards Giessen.
The 59-year-old driver from the Lahn-Dill district, who lost the contents of his roof box, had to call his son due to not being able to fit the items back into his vehicle. It is believed that the roof box was not properly locked, causing the contents to scatter across the highway.
Images of the incident were captured by PP South East Hesse, and a squad car from the South East Hesse Police Highway Station responded immediately to the scene. A second squad car removed the remaining plastic cover and assisted in collecting the luggage.
