Authorities have shut down traffic due to a traffic accident.

In an unfortunate incident on Thursday evening, a collision occurred on state road 3193 near Erlensee, involving a Mercedes and a Ford.

According to the South East Hesse Police Headquarters, the collision took place around 8:30 PM. The Ford, driven by a 46-year-old individual, was travelling on the left lane and was facing the wrong direction. On the other hand, the Mercedes, driven by a 34-year-old individual, allegedly lost control shortly after the A66 exit.

Both vehicles spun multiple times across the entire road and hit the median and side barriers. As a result, both vehicles were totaled, with damages estimated at over 55,000 euros.

The 46-year-old Ford driver was severely injured, while the 34-year-old Mercedes driver sustained minor injuries.

The road towards Erlensee was closed for two hours due to the accident.
