Authorities in SögelWerlte conduct targeted inspections on commercial livestock transports - Violations uncovered

Last Wednesday, police stations in Sögel and Werlte, Germany, carried out spot checks on commercial animal transports. The purpose of these checks was to monitor compliance with legal regulations and punish violations, with the aim of ensuring safety on the roads.

During the checks, a 41-year-old driver of a semi-trailer loaded with 170 pigs was noticed. The driver did not carry the required documentation on vehicle disinfection to protect against animal diseases, and it was discovered that he had repeatedly exceeded the prescribed working time, with several violations of driving and rest times detected.

There were also indications of a possible influence of the driver by intoxicants, and a preliminary test was positive for THC. As a result, a blood sample was taken at the Sögel hospital, and the police prohibited the driver from continuing the journey.

The digital tachograph evaluation revealed the driver's infractions, and the semi-trailer was handed over to another employee of the company in question. The police will continue to carry out increased controls in the area of commercial goods and animal transport.
