Automobile manufacturer GWM Brazil appoints Márcio Alfonso to the role of Engineering and Innovation Director
Chinese automaker Great Wall Motors (GWM) has appointed Márcio Alfonso as the Director of Engineering, R&D, and Innovation in Brazil.
Márcio Alfonso, a Product Development/Product Creation Engineer with over four decades of experience in the automotive industry, will be responsible for developing the product development team in Brazil. The team will report directly to him, and his role extends to overseeing exports in South America.
Alfonso spent the majority of his career at Ford, where he spent 38 years honing his skills in designing and developing components, systems, and both passenger and commercial vehicles. He later spent eight years at Caoa Chery before joining GWM.
The veteran engineer, who is a FEI engineering graduate, has experience forming engineering teams in Brazil and North America. He will report directly to GWM Americas CEO James Yang.
Alfonso's responsibilities include leading the product development team in Brazil, overseeing exports in Latin America, and working closely with the GWM team to drive innovation and development in the region.
While sources do not provide information on James Yang's role or function at GWM, it is clear that he has placed trust in Alfonso's expertise to help drive the company's growth in South America.
