In a significant move towards a greener future, automotive giant Stellantis has announced its partnership with Veloz, a leader in promoting electric vehicle (EV) awareness efforts, and the California Air Resources Board (CARB). This collaboration is expected to contribute significantly to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and achieving California's ambitious goals to cut pollution and increase the number of clean cars on the roads.

As part of its Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan, Stellantis is committed to becoming a carbon net zero corporation by 2038. The corporation aims to achieve this by ensuring a single-digit percentage compensation of remaining emissions in all scopes. To support this goal, Stellantis is investing more than €50 billion in electrification over the decade.

Stellantis' electrification offensive includes the introduction of eight new battery electric vehicle (BEV) models in the U.S. this year, as part of its planned offering of 48 BEV nameplates globally by the end of 2024. The corporation currently sells five plug-in hybrids in the U.S., including the Jeep® Wrangler 4xe, Jeep® Grand Cherokee 4xe, Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, Dodge Hornet, and Alfa Romeo Tonale. Two pure electric vehicles, the FIAT 500e and Ram ProMaster EV, are also available from Stellantis in the U.S.

In an effort to make EVs more accessible, Stellantis plans to offer discounted vehicles to organizations in disadvantaged communities. The corporation is also investing in the installation of public EV chargers, contributing an additional $10 million for this purpose.

California Governor Gavin Newsom has praised this partnership, stating that it will help California achieve its pollution-cutting goals. CARB Chair Liane Randolph echoed this sentiment, stating that collaborations with leading manufacturers like Stellantis will clean the air, combat climate change, and improve health outcomes for state residents. Dr. Steven Cliff, CARB Executive Officer, noted that this partnership is an example of industry collaborations that will further a clean air future.

Stellantis remains determined to offer sustainable options across its brand portfolio. The organization supported by Stellantis alongside Veloz is the Electrification Coalition. Through educational efforts for U.S. consumers and dealers, Stellantis aims to promote the benefits of EVs and contribute to the global decarbonization efforts.

This partnership between Stellantis and CARB is expected to avoid 10 to 12 million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions over the lifetime of the agreement. With these ambitious plans and collaborations, Stellantis is positioning itself as a leader in the global drive towards a carbon-neutral future.
