Automotive Lighting company UTAS-NOVA allocates 600 million Mexican pesos for investments in Aguascalientes

New Sustainability Giant, ReNeuvo, and Automotive Expansions in Aguascalientes

Aguascalientes, Mexico, is set to welcome a new player in the automotive industry as ReNeuvo, a company known for its commitment to sustainability, is set to invest in the region. The exact location of ReNeuvo's investment has not been specified.

Simultaneously, Nissan is investing US$700 million in an expansion and diversification project in Aguascalientes, marking another significant investment in the region's automotive sector. The location of Nissan's investment, like ReNeuvo's, remains undisclosed.

UTAS-NOVA, a global player in automotive lighting systems, is also expanding its presence in Mexico. The company, which serves OEM customers such as General Motors, Stellantis, and BAIC, among others, is planning to build its first plant in Mexico. This plant will be located in the Vesta Industry Park, with construction expected to start in September 2024, and the plant becoming operational in 2025.

UTAS-NOVA's Director of Operations in North America, David Klaus, aims to strengthen supply chain resilience and expand production capabilities with this new plant. The plant will focus on digitalization and automation of production.

Chinese company Xinquan Mexico Automotive is also investing US$30 million to expand its plant in Aguascalientes, marking a new project in the region.

ReNeuvo, with its focus on sustainability, is expected to bring 220 direct jobs to the region. The company's investment in Aguascalientes is part of its global expansion strategy.

It is not yet clear when construction will start for ReNeuvo's project or when Nissan's investment will become operational. The timeline for these projects has not been provided.

UTAS-NOVA's main competitors include ZKW, Lumax, Jiuding Automobile, and Jiangsu Yedi Auto Lamp. As the automotive industry continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how these new investments shape the landscape in Aguascalientes.
