Autonomous driving technology by Tesla is set for release in Australia following confirmation, according to recent reports, as the firm's highly anticipated semi-autonomous technology gears up for launch.

Tesla is set to make a significant announcement for right-hand drive markets, with the launch of its Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology in Australia expected soon. The announcement and demonstration of the technology took place in Brisbane, Australia.

According to Tesla's website, Full Self-Driving (Supervised) allows the vehicle to drive almost anywhere with minimal intervention from the driver. The technology is intended for use on quick errands, daily commutes, and road trips. Features of Full Self-Driving (Supervised) include route navigation, steering, lane changes, parking, and more, all under the driver's active supervision.

The FSD technology planned for launch in Germany is developed primarily by Tesla, Inc., with contributions from their European development center opening in Berlin, where up to 250 engineers and technicians work on new developments. Tesla's FSD system integrates redundant camera, radar, and ultrasonic systems ("Tesla Vision") combined with advanced image processing, supported by Tesla's own machine learning supercomputer, Tesla Dojo.

Tesla Australia has confirmed that there are no regulatory hurdles for the release of Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology. Thom Drew, Tesla Australia's chief, stated that they are in the final stages of validation prior to public release of FSD. However, recent judicial rulings in Germany have challenged the Autopilot function's safety.

The details of what features of Full Self-Driving (Supervised) will be available in Australia remain to be seen. The website states that currently enabled features require active driver supervision and do not make the vehicle autonomous.

Man of Many, an Australian lifestyle publication, was invited to test the Full Self-Driving technology on public roads. They posted footage of the technology trial, which went viral around the world. The Man of Many post suggested that the Full Self-Driving technology will be confirmed within hours. An official announcement regarding the technology is expected at 12.01am Friday, the 29th of August.

This launch marks a major step forward for Tesla in expanding its autonomous driving capabilities to right-hand drive markets. As Tesla continues to refine and improve its Full Self-Driving technology, it could potentially revolutionise the way we travel, making commuting safer, more efficient, and more convenient. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development.
