The Wupper region in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) experienced more rain than average in September 2024, with approximately 20 to 40 liters of rain per square meter above the monthly average. This revelation comes from an analysis conducted by the Wupper Association, which has published a table with the rainfall data for September on their website.

At the measuring stations in Dabringhausen, Hückeswagen, and Solingen-Unterburg, the rainfall data supports this claim. The Großer Dhünn Dam in Dabringhausen recorded a total of 134 liters in September, with an average of 104 liters per square meter. This is 9 liters higher than the average for September, which stands at 95 liters. The Bever Dam in Hückeswagen saw 122 liters per square meter, compared to the average of 99 liters for this month. In Solingen-Unterburg, the Kläranlage recorded 130 liters in September, with an average of 103 liters according to statistics.

The Wuppertal measuring station Kläranlage Buchenhofen recorded 120 liters in September, with an average of 87 liters. This is also above the average of 85 liters for September. Interestingly, no rainfall was recorded between September 14th and 22nd, despite the overall above-average rainfall in September.

The wettest days in September were September 10th and 25th. At the Großer Dhünn Dam, September 25th was the wettest day with 21.7 liters, closely followed by September 10th with 21.3 liters. At the Bever Dam, September 10th was the wettest day with 25 liters, a figure matched by both the Kläranlage Buchenhofen and Kläranlage in Burg.

Despite the above-average rainfall, the month of September had a total of 160 hours of sunshine in NRW, exceeding the average of 135 hours. Unfortunately, there is no information available about a responsible person from the Wupper Association who registered the above-average rainfall amount in September 2024 in the Wupper region.
