In the vibrant district of Flingern, Düsseldorf, the gallery density is particularly high, making it an ideal location for the 11th edition of the "DC Open" art event. This year's event, taking place between the 6th and 8th of September, promises to be a celebration of art and culture, with a total of 47 venues participating.

The "DC Open" offers visitors the opportunity to explore a diverse array of artworks, with off-spaces and museums such as Kunstsammlung NRW, Museum Ludwig in Cologne, Gil Bronner Philara collection, and Kunsthalle taking part. Among the featured artists is Til Freiwald, a Leipzig-based artist whose work has been guided by Thomas Scheibitz and Jerry Zeniuk. Freiwald's canvases have been cut, burned, and reassembled with color, wood, plastic, and metal, creating a unique and thought-provoking visual experience.

For those interested in exploring galleries beyond Flingern, shuttles are available for travel via Poststraße (Carlstadt) to Cologne. These shuttles make stops at St.-Apern-Straße, Rudolfplatz, Schönhauser Straße 8, and Flingeraner Hermannplatz, providing easy access to the numerous galleries participating in the event.

Cologne boasts 28 galleries participating in this year's "DC Open", while Düsseldorf has 19. One of the highlights in Düsseldorf is the gallery Cosar HMT, which is presenting "Environmental Catastrophes Top Ten and other Abominations" by Glen Rubsamen. Rubsamen, a Los Angeles-based artist, finds visual inspiration in mass media or Instagram, depicting scenarios of global catastrophes and threats.

Galerie Conrads is another notable gallery in Flingern, showcasing works by Til Freiwald under the title "Double Hard Drive". Linn Luhn's space on Birkenstraße features the work of US-American artist Dike Blair. Blair's subjects are found in the invisible moments of everyday life, addressing the end of nature and even the entire planet.

The "DC Open" event offers opening hours of Friday from 6 to 10 pm, Saturday from 12 to 8 pm, and Sunday from 12 to 6 pm. For those planning to attend, exact departure times for the shuttles can be found on the "DC Open" website.

This year, Poland is the guest country for the "DC Open", promising a unique cultural exchange. Dike Blair, who has been capturing the moods and moments of the world around us for over 30 years, is one of the artists representing Poland.

Visitors to the "DC Open" can expect a rich and diverse art experience, with a wide range of styles, themes, and media on display. Whether you're a seasoned art enthusiast or a casual observer, there's something for everyone at this year's "DC Open".
