The Landestheater Oberpfalz (LTO) is kick-starting its cultural autumn with a captivating chamber musical titled "Spatz and Engel". Directed by Christian A. Schnell, the production promises stylish staging and a compelling narrative.

The musical, set to be performed at various venues, will make its debut at Stadthalle Vohenstrauß on the 13th of September, 2025. Audiences can also catch it at Schwarzachtalhalle, Neunburg vorm Wald on the 1st of February, Spitalkirche St. Marien Nabburg on the 1st and 23rd of March, Schwarzachtalhalle once again on the 10th, 11th, and 12th of November, and finally at Ring-Kino Weiden on the same dates.

Mica Bara delivers a vocally impressive and extroverted performance as Edith Piaf, while Claudia Lohmann authentically portrays the complex character of Marlene Dietrich. Bara's portrayal of the already ill Piaf, singing "Non, je ne regrette rien", is particularly noteworthy. Lohmann moves the audience with her performance of Dietrich's anti-war song "Sag mir, wo die Blumen sind".

Bara and Lohmann give convincing performances as Piaf and Dietrich, respectively. In the final scene, an elderly Marlene Dietrich has a spiritual dialogue with her deceased friend Edith Piaf. The musical features well-known chanson titles such as "La vie en rose", "Frag nicht, warum ich gehe" and "Milord".

Meanwhile, off the stage, news from the sports world unfolded. Germany's victory over Lithuania in Eurobasket was overshadowed by captain Schröder's revelation of racist heckling. The German federation announced consequences.

Elsewhere, there were reports of accidents. A driver lost control of their vehicle and crashed into a tree, investigations are underway to determine the cause of the accident. Another driver lost control on the B85 near Amberg, but the road has since been cleared. Unfortunately, multiple vehicles were involved in an accident on the A93 near Falkenberg, closing the highway towards Hof.

As the cultural autumn programme unfolds, the musical "Spatz and Engel" promises to be a highlight, offering an immersive and emotional journey through the lives of two iconic figures.
