Balcony blaze at a multiple-unit residence
In the heart of Leithe, a fire broke out on the balcony of an apartment building situated on Munscheidstraße, sending multiple alarm bells ringing for the local emergency services.
The Essen fire department, along with the rescue service, swiftly responded to the reported address on Tuesday, August 2023. The fire department dispatched two fire engines, the Essen-Kray volunteer fire department, the command service, and the rescue service to the scene.
Upon arrival, the fire department found the fire burning on the third floor of the apartment building. An initial concern arose as there was a belief that people might still be inside the affected apartment. Fortunately, no person was found in the already smoky apartment.
The fire department and rescue service of the city of Essen were on site with units from Kray, Steele, Mitte stations, as well as several special vehicles and the command service. The fire department checked all adjacent apartments for health-endangering concentrations of smoke gas, and no elevated values were found.
Thankfully, another team quickly extinguished the fire in the affected apartment, preventing it from spreading to the apartment and the attic. The fire department's quick response and efficient action ensured that the incident was contained and no further damage was caused.
Following the incident, the police have started the investigation into the cause of the fire to determine the origin and circumstances surrounding the blaze. Despite the residential building where the fire broke out not being clearly identified in the search results, the local community can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that the fire department was able to swiftly respond and prevent further damage.
